Elements from preset shapes

Ok..I use a lot of presets shapes when making a kit..and recently I was running out of new presets to use..and needed new ones.  I looked forever but seems that I run the gamut on preset shapes.  But But But..I remembered a really really great tutorial on how to make your own preset shape and gave it a whirl..it works like a charm..and you NEED to do this ..if you are a scrap kit maker..learn this and you will be amazed on what you can do.  All you need is to set up a folder where you can find it..and start to look for free dingbat shapes.  There are tons of sites..I will try to post some links up for that in the near future..and then just follow the tutorial listed below.   Check the entire site because there are a  lot of useful tutorials for scrap ideas..enjoy and have fun..

Making Pearls

You need Eye Candy impact filter glass effect
and Tramages pool filter (optional) for this.

Open image 600 x 600

Use a very white gradient from material palette then on tools use preset shape and draw out a small eclipse shape about the  size of a pea..convert to raster layer.

I used tramages pool shadow to get the effect I wanted..below are settings I used..(play around to get what you want)

I then use Eye candy 5 impact  glass..(settings below) but before you apply this go to settings tab in glass use clear with no drop shadow..you can drop shadow later when finished if you like. (if you drop shadow now..it is harder to line up pearls after you
duplicate them)  Apply now by hitting OK on top right.

Duplicate pearls as many times as you like and arrange them in any way that you would like.  Also if you re size one of the duplicates again..make it smaller..you can duplicate that and put it in between
each pearl..as shown on my preview on top.  Once you have what you want..merge visible and drop shadow.

This technique also works for any eclipse shape size or color..just adjust settings to get the effect..that way you can make colored beads..You can even try a oblong shape..or other shapes and use Eye Candy glass effect to make tons of beads..good luck and have
fun! :)

Just for a note:  If you have layer on bottom that is blank or add a new raster and place it on bottom of palette and flood fill it black or dark color..you can easier see what you are doing moving lighter stuff around..delete that layer before merging all

Making Lines with Mura Miesters Copies

Open new image 600 x 600.

In top left corner create shape or place image
you want to copy to lines. Always remember to
convert to raster on layers palette.

Go to Effects..Plugins..mura miesters ..copies.
use settings below.

Settings should be line..off..normal and at
bottom line

Now once you get it in straight line you can adjust the settings to give you more or less
in the line as you like.

After you get your line..you can always duplicate
it and put it below..merge visible..duplicate ..repeating so you have a page full..merge visible..add layer..drop it under merged..flood fill
what ever color or pattern you like and you'll have a wonderful new paper to use in
you kit.

Simple flower with Mura Miester Copies

open new image 600 x 600

Using black as foreground color and a
color of your choice for background click open
your preset shapes..using oval or eclipse, draw
out a oblong shape.  Center it to middle
of your pallet.  Make sure you petal isn't too big
as it will go off palette and not work right.

Using Mura Miester copies and setting below, make your outer petals.(you may have to adjust for your size petals) After you have outer petals as you like..you can then draw a smaller eclipse shape..using a different color for center..and then convert to raster..and bam you have a simple flower.

Now..if you like..you can always use lightening/darkening
tool on your first petal. to give it texture.  Play around
with paint brush or textures from effects or perhaps even using a blind effect..create freely and discover your artist abilities..lol.  You can also duplicate petal layer after using mura miesters copies and make it smaller and drop shadow or  then change color by adjusting hue or colorize.  You can even use  Change to target tool on tool bar.  Remember to merge all and save it in a place you can find it to add to your kit..have fun! Making a Bow with Av Bros page curl

Open image 600 x 600
Using preset shape rectangle draw your ribbon
making sure it is center of you palette.

Duplicate the ribbon

Rename the first one bow.

Go to Effect..av bros..use settings below..(you can play around
and get desire effect for different lengths)

Erase the corner so you have a bow side.  Duplicate this image
and mirror.  Use deformation tool to angle the way you want.

Once you have it right go back to your orginal ribbon use
your selection tool (with magic want) and draw out a small square
over it..copy and paste new layer.  Now you should have small
square you can use a bow center.  Rename this layer bow center.

Move this between the two bow sides.  Using deformation tool..bring it
in and make fit between the two.  Use warp brush or mesh warp to bring
it around bow side to look real.

Go to original ribbon layer.  Duplicate.  On copy use av bros again, settings
below, but you can play with it to get what you want. I erase the top part
place it underneath my bow layer.

You can now either adjust the setting some for second ribbon  or even just duplicate the first one and mirror it.  I duplicated the ribbon in the beginning so it is easier to decide later on what to do, that way  I have a extra to
use.  Once it is done to your liking, delete any extra ribbon and merge visible
and save to your kit or work.

You can also use Tramage pool shadow at this point to get silkier look.
